I can't believe October is over already! Where has the year gone, seriously? Since time has gone by so fast, I haven't had a chance to be 'loving' too many products so today I'm going to keep it simple and sweet by sharing with you just three beauty products. My favourites won't usually be this small, its just that I have been too busy to try too many new things, and I also had to put a few products that I have been using/ testing out aside for another post so I can share my thoughts of them with you in more depth. Anyway, thats enough of me blabbering, lets get to it.

As you have probably have seen from my 'What I got for my Birthday' post, I was lucky enough to receive the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette from my friends. Ever since I got it, I have been using it nearly everyday and its already become a staple item in my make-up routine. The packaging is a vast improvement from the first Naked palette, which would always end up getting dirty and was actually a little too flimsy in contrast to the great quality shadows it contained. The dark tones of the eyeshadows themselves are perfect for a smoky eye (as you probably guessed from the name of the palette!) but I also think the blues and purples makes for a great wash all over the lid for the winter months. This teamed up with simple face make-up and a dark lip is my go-to look for the season. I will be doing a more detailed review with swatches soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

Another couple of favourites of mine are from Sleek. I've never tried a Sleek lipstick before this but now that this True Colour lipstick* in the shade Barely There is on my radar, I will be sure to head to the Sleek counter when in need of a lovely lipstick (lets me honest, it'll probably be next week). I just love the sleek and compact packaging which makes it perfect for your handbag for touch-ups throughout the day. The formulation is also just as lovely and is well-pigmented for an inexpensive lipstick. My lips are often dry and what I love about this is that it doesn't dry them out at all but instead it actually makes them look more nourished looking. I would describe the finish to be a satin one, as it has a little sheen but not too much that'll make it over-powering. Some days I just love to wear this only on the centre of my already lined lips, for that plump and frosted looking lip trend that is totally in right now.

Another product of Sleek's I really enjoy using is their Eau La La Liner* in the shade Cocoa. Not only is this colour great for a more natural look but the formula allows it to stay put near enough all day. It is well-pigmented and really creamy on application. It also stays true to its claims of being smudge-proof, making it perfect the upper lash line but I because of the difficulty to blend it out, I personally find the colour to harsh for the lower lash line. For anyone looking for a new eyeliner pencil, I would recommend this one, especially because there are so many colours available for a budget price.

So there you go, these 3 have been my go-to products as of late. I have been keeping my base make-up pretty minimal and have been really focusing on dramatizing my eye-look, something I have really been enjoying doing. Have you tried any of these products? If not, what look is it that you've been loving recently? Feel free to comment below.

Born Pretty Store | Super Vitamin Lip Balm

If you saw my last post, you might have seen that I was sent a couple of products from BornPrettyStore.com. I was so grateful for this, but also intrigued to see what quality the products would be for such an inexpensive price.

Alongside the Felt Tip Eyeliner, I also got a lovely Super Vitamin Lip Balm* in the shade 2. Again, it comes in a cute pink packaging that doesn't feel at all cheap and kind of reminds me of the Maybelline Baby Lips
The actual product is quite similar too, but I would describe this as a little more buttery. I love how it just glides on to the lips, thoroughly moisturizing them with making it feel sticky nor making my lips sting.

The colour payoff is pretty good as it this shade in particular gives a lovely flush of colour to the lips. There is some shimmer in it too, which may not be to everybody's taste, but I think it gives a really pretty and youthful look on the days you can't be bothered for a full-on lip colour.

The lasting power isn't the greatest but thats expected since it is more of a lip balm that a lipstick. However I really did enjoy using this product and I think it has done my lips some good!  I also love the deepish pink tone of it, great to add a little colour lazy days.

The lovely Joy at BornPretty gave me a 10% off coupon code for all my readers, so I hope you enjoy seeing what bargains you can pick up! Simply use the code: ALIH10 at the checkout for the discount.

It takes around 2-3 weeks to arrive since they are shipped from abroad but the delivery is free which is a great bonus.

Born Pretty Store | Goodbye Miss Panda Eyeliner

For those of you who don't know, I love a good beauty bargain. So you can imagine my delight when I was contacted by Joy from BornPrettyStore.com to have a look through the website and see which products caught my eye. Whilst browsing, I saw there were such a huge range of choice and all for a very inexpensive price! Liquid eyeliners are often hit-and-miss, especially the budget drugstore ones but I thought it'd be nice to give the Goodbye Miss Panda Eye Liner* a try and see how I got on.

There were loads of black liners to choose from but I opted for this felt-tip one. I'm not going to lie, I was a little swayed by the packaging... look how cute the little Panda head is! The pink casing just adds to the cuteness of the product, but it doesn't feel cheap either. Instead, its really sleek and doesn't take up much space in your make-up bag at all, which is a great feature.

As I started using it, I was so pleased to see how thin the tip of the pen was. It is absolutely perfect for those with small of hooded eyelids (like me) as it allows you to get into the corners of your eye a lot easier than any other liner I've used without smudging. I cannot praise the thinness of the liner enough!

I have to admit, the colour isn't the blackest I've ever used, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. It applies nicely and has a pretty finished look that lasts relatively quite a long time which is what you want in an eyeliner.

Not only is is very inexpensive, the packaging is so pretty and the actual applicator is the best! The formula itself could be improved but honestly for the price I didn't expect anything more. I still really love using the eyeliner for an everyday look, its just so quick and easy to use.

The kind people at BornPretty gave me a 10% off coupon code for all my readers, so I hope you enjoy! Simply use the code: ALIH10 at the checkout for the discount.

It takes around 2-3 weeks to arrive since they are shipped from abroad, but at least the delivery is free which is great.

I also managed to get a lovely lip balm from the online website too which I will be doing a review of on Thursday so keep an eye out for that!

11 Things I Learnt About Neals Yard Remedies

On Tuesday, I was lucky enough to be invited to the new Neals Yard Remedies Store opening in Grand Central in Birmingham. You can imagine my excitement, as not only was it my first ever blogger event (I feel like I am now officially an established 'blogger'!) but also the fact that it was inside the brand-spanking new shopping centre in my home town.

Whilst I had previously dabbled with some of Neals Yard products in the past, including sneakily using my mothers luxury gift sets she received off my dad, I had never really dived into the brand itself (unless buying that issue of Marie Claire magazine only for the free Wild Rose hand cream counts?) However, after doing some pre-reading about what they are about, I was intrigued to see what they had to offer.

Not only is the store aesthetically stunning, but as I walked in I was warmly welcomed by some really lovely consultants who kindly offered some drinks, snacks and lots of information about the products. Here's a few of the things I learnt from my time visiting the new store:

1. They maximise the use of organic ingredients (you can find out more about why choose organic on their website here)
2. And theres no hidden nasties in any of their products either
3. Their ethics are brilliant too. From Fair-trade to FRAME and PETA, Neals Yard Remedies is committed to protect animals and the environment whilst supporting local communities in any which way they can.
4. Whilst they are a luxury brand, many of their products are pretty affordable and there is likely to be something to suit every budget.
5. The quality of their products and amazing and probably one of the best, if not the best, that I have ever used. The consistencies of a lot of the skincare products are all beautifully thick and well-nourishing - my skin felt amazing after testing out everything I could get my hands on!
6. They cater to a whole range of skin types, and even ages too. There's something for dry or oily skin, ageing skin and even something for all the new mothers out there.
7. The products smell incredible! I'm not sure if its the use of the organic products or what, but the scents are all soothing, fresh and subtle too. A big winner for me!
8. They do a range of home fragrances too, which I will attempt to get my hands on ASAP. Perfect for this time of year when the scents of candles and essential oils is a must for that cosy atmosphere.
9. On top of everything, they also sell superfoods! I never actually knew this, but after tasting some Goji berries and their very own speciality, a Matcha Green Tea drink, it has arose an interest in me thats left me wanting to know more. Superfoods are brilliant for your brain power, energy levels and overall health.
10. Their ethos is based on looking after yourself from the inside and out. The idea behind the logo was even explained to me - nurture the 'roots' of the tree and it will be reflected externally (clever, right?)
11. Their make-up collection is due a relaunch next year which are going to be organic and even better than the current range they have on offer. I cannot wait!

Simply visiting the store and learning more about the products has really opened my eyes to the benefits of going organic which has made me more wary of certain ingredients in beauty products. I also intend to start implementing superfoods in my diet to improve my health (and hopefully give me the much needed brain power to get me through university!). Not only are they a delicious ingredient you can add to your food for a whole lot of added nutrients, but they are also a great way stimulate the rest of your healthy lifestyle.

The new Birmingham store in Grand Central is simply beautiful and I would definitely recommend visiting there, even if it is just to browse the products or have a chat with one of their consultants.

Have you ever tried any of Neals Yard Remedies products? Feel free to leave suggestions below :)

Jolen Creme Bleach | Review

Jolen Creme Bleach | Review hair removal

Unwanted hair is not something thats talked about often but its something everyone has to deal with. Some people are happy with leaving it and there is absolutely no shame in doing so. I personally tend to feel a little self-conscious at times so like to minimise the appearance of unwanted hair as much as I can, as you have probably seen from my previous post where I was talking about my experience with epilating. Bleaching however was something that I never ventured into, even though my mother and my cousin both do it, using this very product actually. The Jolene Creme Bleach* is a quick and easy way to bleach the hairs on your face and body, without any pain or additional equipment.

Product description
Jolen Crème Bleach is a cream and powder which when mixed together lightens dark excess facial and body hair in just 10 minutes. Even the smallest, most sensitive areas of the face and body can be treated. Hair is lightened to a less noticeable shade, blending with natural skin tones – skin colour is not affected, making Jolen kind yet effective.

Box Includes:
- Jolen Creme Bleach: Creme
- Accelerator (Powder)
- Spatula
- Tray

How to Use (Description from Jolenbeauty.com)
"Wash area to be bleached with soap and cold water and pat dry. With the spatula, measure about one quarter teaspoon Accelerator powder and place in cup. Clean spatula. Measure about one half teaspoon Creme Bleach into the cup and blend well with the powder. (For larger areas, mix about one part powder to two parts creme.) Apply mixture with spatula to the area to be bleached, covering hair completely. Wait 10 minutes and remove with spatula. If hair is not completely bleached, reapply the mixture for another 5 to 10 minutes. Wash area with cold water."

Although the idea of bleaching my hair seems like a daunting task, it was actually quite a pleasant experience! The actual creme was simple enough to make, given you follow the instructions properly, and easy to apply. I tested it first on my arm just so I knew what I was getting myself into, and then on my face, using the spatula that comes inside the box to do so.

The scent of the product was't too bad either, and although you could still smell the bleach, it wasn't as revolting as you would expect! After leaving the mixture on for just about 10 minutes, I removed the product and instantly I could tell a difference in my face. My complexion looked much brighter, and although my hairs had only turned a light brown (I don't think I left it on long enough because I was a little wary of doing so!), it made a huge difference. I applied it on again for another 5 minutes and this time the hairs came out blonde, although I could actually hardly see them.

I was really pleased with the whole process of bleaching my hair, and now that I've had the experience of doing so I will most likely be bleaching any unwanted hairs a lot more frequently! I was pleased with the result, and it did what it said on the tin (or the box I should say). My skin is quite sensitive so the fact that I didn't get any irritation or reaction whatsoever must mean that it is a good quality product without anything too harsh in it that would damage the skin. However, if you are still wary about getting a horrible reaction from using it, there is a mild formula version of the product that has added aloe vera in especially for sensitive skin. (*Note Always make sure you do a test patch first)

You can buy the Jolen Creme Bleach here from Boots for £4.29 (30ml)

Garner Dark Spot Corrector | Review

Garner Dark Spot Corrector Review daily unifying moisturiser skincare

Garner Skin Naturals Dark Spot Corrector Review daily unifying moisturiser skincare

I have been waiting for a drugstore product that brightens the face and evens out skin-tone for a long time, so you can imagine my delight when I stumbled across this beauty. There are quite a few other products on the market that claim to add radiancy to the face, but Garnier specifically suggests the product can physically provide results within 12 weeks, seeing improvement of the skintone in as little as 4 weeks. Its something that so many people would be interested in for numerous reasons: to diminish age spots, reduce hyper-pigmentation, soothe redness, and more in order to feel confident in our own skin without the need to apply layers of foundation to do the same job.

I have been using this for around 5 weeks, and let me tell you - I am genuinely impressed. First of all,  let me explain my skin type. I would say I have dry skin that is not overly uneven, but I do feel it is darker around my chin area and under the eyes. It can also look pretty dull, so I was looking for a product that fixes both of these to give me a more fresh and healthy glow so that I don't feel a need to wear make-up on hot summer days. So here's what I thought:

The claims:
For all skin types & tones.

Whatever your age, repeated exposure to the sun, ageing, hormonal fluctuations and blemishes can all be responsible for the appearance of dark spots, age spots and marks on the skin's surface which leave it looking dull and uneven.- Dark spot innovation.- Clinically tested efficacy.- Daily illuminating moisturiser.- Fades discolourations for even skintone: dark spots, age spots and blemish marks.- For all skin types & tones.- Brightening vitamin C.- Dermatologically tested.

Directions: Apply Garnier Dark Spot Corrector Daily Illuminating Moisturiser morning and/or evening to the entire face.

Packaging: It comes in a handy metal tube that helps to prevent the product from oxidising, which is evident if you let a little bit leak out as it turns orangey brown colour. Its smaller than I thought it would be but don't get me wrong, a little goes a long way with this product and it is sure to last you the 12 weeks that it has been recommended for.

Application: The cream-gel formula is light and I love the feeling of applying it on my face. Its easy to spread around, even with only a bit of product. I have read reviews saying that it was too greasy for some people but for me it was just right. Even though this claims to be a daily moisturiser, I don't think it quite cuts it for my dry and dehydrated skin so I like to use this on top of my usual moisturiser. My favourite thing is the light and fresh scent of the formula, which is quite rare for a moisturiser! It gives you joy when applying it, which sounds a little bit weird if I'm honest, but it makes a nice change to regular face creams.

After the first week of applying it everyday, I didn't notice much change. It was only until the third week I started to notice a slight different in my complexion. I felt my skintone around my jawline (which suffers the most discolouration) was becoming more similar to the rest of my face.
From then on, every-week I have been seeing a slight difference in my skin. I am now on the 12th week, and looking at my face now compared to how it was before I started using the product, I can see quite a change. Its nothing extreme, and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but for I can see an added radiance to my complexion, something I lacked previously. My facial skintone does feel and look more even, but nothing too drastic. I hope to buy another tube, and continue to use it to see if it provides any further results because so far I am quite happy with it. It doesn't provide greatly beneficial results, but it will do for now!

My mum has also bought herself one as she wants to see how it works on her age spots. She was clever enough to take before and after pictures (something I failed to do), so I will be sure to report back on her thoughts and how well it worked for her.

Beautiful Bronze Perfect Primer and Highlighter Glow Stick by Sunkissed | Review

While passing through Primark, I have often been curious to see what some of the beauty products sold there are like. You can imagine my delight when the lovely people at Sunkissed sent me these two items from the Beautiful Bronze range, which I'm sure is sold over at Primark. I couldn't wait to try them out and see how good a product could be for the small of under £3. Whats more, is that they contain Vitamin E for added skin benefits and are also free from parabens which is always a lovely thing to see from a cosmetic brand for peace of mind over what you're putting on your face.

The face 'Perfect Primer'* was something I was really looking forward to trying as I have been on the lookout for a cheaper primer than the famous Benefit Pore-fressional to make my make-up last a little longer for the long days of university lectures. Being packed in a cute little tube, the product was lovely to use and apply to my face. Its nice to see that a little goes a long way and how it just blends like a dream without leaving an awkward silicone feeling. My foundation just glided on top nicely, and evenly too, giving a lovely finish to my skin without drastically altering the texture of my Rimmel True Match foundation. After a long day at uni I found that my make-up did last a little longer than usual, around 3-4 hours longer, which is great considering how little product I used. Overall, I really enjoyed using this and would say it is definitely worth the £3 price tag, which means you can use it everyday without feeling guilty!

While summer is a hazy distant memory for us here in the UK, I have decided that there is no reason not to keep the glowing bronzed skin during these colder months. Everyone loves that healthy looking skin, and with the strobing technique well and truly in, there's even more reason to get bring all the face highlighters out. This next product is the Glow Stick Highlighter* which is a great tone for that healthy bronzed up glow. Although the plastic packaging doesn't exactly scream quality, it does make the application of the product a hell of a lot easier than a powder formula does, especially for all those beginners who are trying out the whole highlighting/ bronzing technique out for themselves. Once applied, the highlighter gives a really nice sheen to the skin without looking too dark and muddy, nor with too much glitter in it too which can be the downfall of many other highlighters out there. Its very easy to blend and you can build it up to for more of an intense look if you wish. I think it would look great in the summer time for adding dimension to the face for a healthy and tanned look. Its not exactly the longest lasting bronzer I've tried, but for the price tag I would say it really does the job well of creating a 'Beautiful Bronze' look for a very inexpensive price.

Overall, I am well pleased with both of these products, if not a bit shocked by the quality of them for the price tag. I can actually see it competing with other budget brands like MUA at Superdrug, who are known for their inexpensive little products. Its great for those who aren't looking to spend too much or on new to the make-up and beauty scene.

I hope you enjoyed this post, feel free to leave a comment below!

Evening Skincare Products

Evening Skincare routine and Products

Evening Skincare routine simple cleansing facial wipes make-up remover

Evening Skincare Products vitamin e hydrating brightening toner the body shop

Evening Skincare Products Simply sensitive hydrating eye cream with aloe vera

evening skincare routine Boots Vitamin E night cream moisturiser

I'm not gonna lie, my evening skincare routine was a disgrace until only recently, where I discovered you can actually buy products that aren't going to leave you feeling broke (even if your skin would be looking impeccable).
I chose each of these products without any guidance as a total beginner with skincare, so I thought I'd share with you what I use on a daily basis and my experience with these products.

Simple Cleansing Wipes £2.16 @ Superdrug
Being someone who is pretty lazy with makeup removal, I figured I would choose the easy option and instead use some cleansing wipes for them late nights where you just want to get in to bed and sleep. Although it's not the best idea, I love these wipes and I do think they are great for getting rid of most, if not all, of your makeup. I would recommend these wipes, but I feel that if you were a lot of makeup, you may need to wash your face again to get rid of any left over mascara and what-not.

Vitamin E Hydrating Toner £8.50 @ The Body Shop
I then go on to use toner. I actually had a fear of using toner as I have really dry skin and figured toner (known for tightening pores and balancing the oils in your skin.) However, the nice ladies at the body shop actually recommended me this one, so I thought I would give it a try. After using it, my skin felt more refreshed, and using a cotton pad, I saw it actually removed left-over makeup that i didn't even know was there! I'm not sure if it brightens your skin, but I'd like to think it does! It does give it a good clean though.

Boots Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream £3.49 @ Boots
I was looking for an eye cream, and since my eyes are actually pretty dry I thought I'd play it safe and choose this product (the Vitamin D version that I actually wanted was out of stock). I have to say though, I'm not overly impressed. It really easy to apply and you don't need to use a lot, but I was actually hoping for something that your brighten my under-eye area but it just didn't do that But if you do have sensitive skin, I think it would be a good idea to check this out.

Boots Vitamin E Night Cream £3.05 @ Boots
As I mentioned earlier, my skin can get really dry! So I chose this overnight cream in hope that it would give me a moisture boost while  slept and I really feel like it does just that! It's got a pretty thick consistency and applies nicely, and by the time morning arrives your skin feels a lot more plump and refreshed. Overall, I am pleased with this product!

I know that my skincare routine does need improvement but for now because I don't wear too much makeup.

2015 Liebster Award!

2015 Liebster Award - questions and nominations

I have recently been seeing blog posts on the 2015 Liebster Award circulating around for a while now, but never would I have thought I'd actually be taking part myself. I want to say a very special thank you to Darrian from Oh Shift, Y'all for nominating me, I can't explain how excited I am to write this post! Its been a while since I have been nominated but I wanted to share with you my Paris photos before writing this post so everything is up to date.

For those of you who don't know, the whole point is to connect small bloggers with under 200 followers to get the praise they deserve for all the hard work they put into their blog. I think it is such a great idea to show the appreciation towards these bloggers who put as much effort into their blog, if not more, than those with thousands of followers. Today I am ready to get back into my usual scheduling routine and to kick start this off, I  would like to share my answers with you all. , and here are my answers for you all.

The Questions

1. Why did you start your blog?
I had been watching youtube videos and reading online blogs for a while before I decided to make my own. I was far too shy and self-conscious to start making youtube content so instead I decided to write down everything I wanted to share instead. I love learning, trying out new things and just gaining an insight into peoples' lives. I thought blogging would be a perfect outlet to do this, and so the story of my online presence began.

2. What is your favorite blog post that you’ve published so far?
Ooh I'm not to sure about this one! It is constantly changing but I have to say that I love posting my travel photos such as the London and Paris ones I've done recently. I also tend to like the ones that I see more comments on because it just makes me happy to know that people like my post enough to make a lovely comment on it. Quite a few people interacted with my Birthday Wishlist which was nice for me to see because I had a lot of fun creating it.

3. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I go through phases quite often so this is a hard one as it just depends on my mood. I could literally live on fruit, particularly Mangoes! I also love pasta with vegetables in it, so if I had to choose an actual meal, it would probably be that one.

4. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Whenever something went wrong, my mum always used to tell me, 'its done now, leave it in the past and focus on the future.' Just remembering this helps me not to dwell on the things gone wrong but instead think about the happy times yet to come.

5. What is your guilty pleasure?
Eating a whole tub of Haagen-Dazs whilst watching something rubbish on TV like Keeping up with the Kardashians!

6. What’s one social media trend that you absolutely just don’t understand?
I guess I find it kind of annoying when someone Instagrams every single part of their day - from their morning bed hair to random photos of their daily Starbuck's coffee, I just can't seem to understand the need to share these ordinary situations - anyone else feel that way?

7. What is your favourite quote and why?
I have been a fan of Roald Dahl and one quote that always stood out to me when reading ne of my favourite books of his, The Twits, was this:
"A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” - This just motivates me to always have positive thoughts which will then in turn reflect on the outside and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

8. Where do you see yourself in the next year?
Hopefully just finishing off an internship and being completely prepared for my last year at Uni (I can dream can't I?!)

9. What is your weirdest quirk?
Um, I'm not sure if it counts as a weird quirk but I gain such pleasure from tidying and organising all of my belongings. Some people dread to sort out their room, I relish the opportunity to!

10. What is the last book you read?
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and it was brilliant! The writing was mesmerising, especially as it was in the viewpoint of Death. I literally could not put it down.

11. What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Raspberry Ripple - I love both vanilla and fruit flavours so this kind of has the best of both worlds!

Paris Diary: Day 4 | The Haunting Underground Catacombs and Walking Down the Champs Elysees

Welcome to the last part of my Paris Adventure! On the last day in Paris, we visited the infamous Catacombs of Paris. I'm not going to lie, I was so excited to finally visit the place I have heard so much about. However, once I stepped in to the underground place, it suddenly felt all too real and kind of scared me a little. For those of you who don't know, the Catacombs is an underground ossuary that holds the remains of about six million people . The walls are stacked with  skulls and bones when all of Paris's graveyards were emptied. Let's just say, this is not a place for the faint-hearted!
After travelling through tunnel after tunnel, we finally came to the part that was lined with the skeletons. It was honestly the most surreal experience I've had on this trip. Seeing them all lined up all neatly was a chilling sight, its crazy to think they've been like that for hundreds of years.

After deciding we needed to something a little more chilled out, we decided to make our way to the Concorde and walked up the Champs Elysees which was really lovely! Seeing all the designer shops, that we cleverly avoided going in to, was great, as was just sitting down for lunch watching the world pass by. What made it even better was seeing the Arc De Triomphe which was so amazing to see in real-life.  After a bit more wondering around the beautiful city of Paris, we went back to the hotel and chilled out for a little bit before needing to pack to get back to the UK.

After an amazing few days, I have to admit I was glad to be back home! It was a trip I will never forget, and I am so grateful to have been able to experience it with my amazing cousin. This has given me motivation to visit more cities all over the world one day and experience even greater adventures.
