Soap and Glory mascara, the body shop, Miss Sporty eyeliner, christmas and new years eve make-up festive season ideas

This time of year is such a great time for experimenting with your make-up and going-all out. You can use any bright colour you wish and as much glitter you can find whilst still looking acceptable in public! Those days have gone where you are scraping the remaining glitter lip-gloss from the bottom of a tube you got free with 'Mizz Magazine' (that was a great magazine though, wasn't it?!) as now many make-up brands seem to be incorporating the shimmery trend that was big in the 90's into a more subtle product. Whether its for lips, eyes or cheeks, your sure to find something suitable to your taste.

I find that you can never go wrong with a smoky eye for that dramatic look on a night out. My favourite palette for this is of course the one and only Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette which has some gorgeous shades that allows you to play around with different looks. Whether its a golden bronze or smoky purple, you're sure to find a look you're happy with these shadows. Whats better is that you can even team it up the dramatic eyes with a bright lip and it won't look out of place because it is the festive season after all! There are so many great lip options out there, from the classic Mac's Ruby Woo to Zoe Suggs holy grail, Rimmel Kate 107.

If your a beginner or simply don't have the products you need for a night-out, this Body Shop Pre-Party Kit is great for all the essentials you need. It has included a deep grey single eyeshadow which has lovely little glitter in it that isn't too 'out there' for the eyes but adds a little something to the look. The pigmentation isn't the greatest, but used on top of a matte eyeshadow will create a gorgeous simple look that you can build up to suit your taste.  Not only that, but it also has a beautiful bright red lipstick, as suggested by the name 'Red Siren', that I think would suit all skin tones. Alongside this, to finish your look off, the kit comes with a beautiful bright red nail varnish in a very similar shade to the red lipstick, that I find is gorgrous especially if you find red lips a bit too much. I really love the quality of The Body Shop nail varnishes and I have recommended them to many of my friends looking for a budget polish with a gorgeous range of colours. If you really wan to go all out, add some glitter nail polish to add that wow-factor, which you can find all over the drugstore! I even have a post here where you can find out my favourites and recommendations.

Once your eyes, lips and nails are done, finish off with a cat-flick eyeliner, a layering of mascara and a little blush, highlight and bronzer to finish your look off. If you really want to go all out, why not relive the 90s and add some body glitter to your arms and legs. I love the concept of this Body Shop The Sparkler which has a really subtle fresh smell and gives the perfect amount of shimmer for your arms, legs and your entire body if you wish!

I hope you enjoyed this post, feel free to let me know what your favourite party-time essentials are in the comments below.

I will also soon be finally hosting a giveaway in the New Year where you can enter to win the Body Shop Pre-Party Make-up kit so stay tuned.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond | Glitter and Metallic Nail Trend

Glitter and Metallic Nail Polish Trend for christmas

Christmas is a great time to try out new nail trends - the bolder the better in my opinion! In particular, glittery nail colours are perfect for the upcoming party season. Not only do they add a little something to your outfit but you can go all out with the formulas you choose.

There are some that look simple enough but change colour in the light (a nail trend I am just fascinated with!). I personally love this Rimmel Metal Rush one that I have. Its a gorgeous colour and is great to add a little to your look without being to 'out there' for everyday wear - especially when you want to change up your look in the countdown to Christmas but your still slogging your way through work/school/ uni. Theres a few colour-changing nail polishes out there on the market nowadays, I've heard  few things about the new(ish) Seventeen Colour Switch Polishes and they look really lovely and innovative but I've personally not had any experience with them so can't actually recommend.

Of course, you can always go for the classic shimmer shades that every brand of nail-polishes probably have in their collections giving you a huge choice of shades defending on your brand preference. These No7 colours are gorgeous and apply really nicely on the nails. I've also has really  good experience with the Barry M ones too, I find they have a huge range of different colours and formulas and at such a good price-point too! I'm not sure if they're new or not, but I've had my eye on these Model Own Diamond Luxe ones for a while now, they look simply beautiful!!

Then there is the full out glitter nails. I'm not going to lie, I love going completely over the top with my nails whenever I get the opportunity to! Again, you can get amazing glitter polishes in a whole load of different brands but my favourite (drugstore ones anyway) are Rimmel! They always seem to hit it on the nail with whatever collection they release, but I particularly love the Glitter Bomb ones - either to wear on its own or layer on top of any bright colour you wish. These Makeup Revolution ones are very similar to the Max Factor ones, and they're only £1 too!

I'm sure you'll find a colour to match your party dress this season, let me know below what style and brands are your favourite. I personally love the full on glitter but of course you can't go wrong with a simple shimmery nail polish in the lead up to an event - whether its Christmas or any other special occasion happening soon in your diary.

Shades of Red Nail Polish | The Perfect Shade For Autumn and Winter

autumn winter red nail polish nails inc, rimmel, no7, W7, collection 2000

autumn winter red nail polish nails inc, rimmel, no7, W7, collection 2000 halloween christmas

Red is just one of those colours that is perfect for this time of year. Whether you wear it in autumn to match all the leaves changing colour or when as the festive season approaches, it is such a versatile shade that makes it appropriate for these next few months.

As I was sorting out mine (and my mums) nail polishes, I came across quite a few shades of red that I never even knew I owned. My personal favourites are the Nails Inc ones, which is a given really since they are the most priciest out of my collection. I do love the colour of the W7 one however, as it is a very vibrant red that would make it perfect for an occasion like Halloween or something of the like when you really want your manicure to stand out.

Collection also do really great nail varnishes that come in ay great shades so I'm sure you'll be able to find a red/ orange shade in their range, and for a very inexpensive price too. Rimmel's '60-second' range are one of my favourites, mostly because I am so impatient in waiting for nails to dry! All of their nail polishes are pretty good, but that range of their has to be the best one in my opinion.

Now unfortunately I do not (currently) own any of Barry M nail polishes in a red shade but I really want to! I love their formula and the different types that are available: whether its matte, gel or a bright colour, there is something for everyone. They don't have the best range of red colours but you can always opt for a burgundy or even an orange colour to take you through these months if you wish. The price point of their polishes is also brilliant, and there is even often offers on at both Superdrug and Boots.

You also may notice that Essie is also missing from my collection. Now I understand they are great for their nail polishes but if I'm honest, I only have two of their products because I find them too expensive to buy for everyday use. However, they do have the most amazing range of shades so if you're ever in need of a colour that you can't find anywhere else, I would defiantly recommend checking out their counter on high-street whenever you're there.

As you can probably tell, I love this season and especially the nail colours that go with it. Of course there are you oranges, greens and even blacks that are appropriate but I just feel you can't go wrong with a classic red nail. What do you guys think, is this the colour you would opt for during this time of year? Leave you comments below.

A Little Update | Blogging Schedule, Giveaways and More

Hi guys,

So I have a bit of a different post of you today and thats just because I wanted to give you a little update on what I hope to do for my blog from now on since.

Firstly, I just want to say thank you to each and every person reading this and supporting The Cat and The Girl blog. I just can't believe I've actually got into the hundreds in terms of blogging followers, so from now on I vow to provide better content on my blog and I really hope you enjoy it enough to continue reading.

As a little celebration, I want to host a little giveaway soon for when I reach the blogging milestone of having 300 followers on Bloglovin (You can follow me here *insert winking emoji*). This may seem like ages away yet, but I hope it doesn't take too long as I already have the giveaway products ready for you guys!

I have recently made a promise to myself to stick to a blogging schedule that works for me, instead of just blogging sporadically. I will therefore now be posting every Wednesday and Saturday at 9am so stay tuned for more regular posts! The content of these posts will be mostly beauty and lifestyle related, so I hope you enjoy. However, on the 1st of each month I will also be posting a little update of my month. This may be an Instagram photo round-up, a simple Dear Diary post or it could be in the form of a monthly favourites. Just whatever takes my fancy really. (I know I know, I missed yesterdays post but I promise from now on I will be sticking to this!).

Anyway, there's not much else to add but again I just want to thank you all for reading and following me as I take my blog onto this weird and wonderful journey. I hope to continue writing interesting posts that aim to help you in any which way possible.

Remember to also follow my Twitter account for more updates and even for a little chat. I aim to also be more active on there too, but if I'm honest that's not going to be too hard as I love twitter! You can also find me on Instagram but do bear with me as I am still finding my feet when it comes to posting photos on there.

But thats all for now,

Love Aliya x
